Joel, I know you are very high on Emcee. Now I can see why. He was ultra-impressive in the Forego by surging to a 5 length victory. He is lightly raced and seems to be a legitimate contender vs. current favorite Amazombie in the BC Sprint. Emcee reminds me alot of another star horse last year Force Freeze. Emcee was quick out of the gate in the Forego, which is a good quality to get a good break and be forwardly placed against top BC sprinters. Last year Force Freeze gave a great showing in the BC sprint, this year Emcee looks to do the same vs. Amazombie and the rest of the field.

Joe, I was happy to see him finally break through Saturday. You get nervous about lightly raced horses in terms of wondering if they’re going to get that big win that the truly talented ones deserve to get. Hopefully it’s onward and upward with him from here.
He’s a beautiful colt and very naturally gifted. I have a feeling he may be at his best at 7 furlongs or some of the longer sprints, so that could work against him at 6 furlongs in November where he’ll need to show good gate speed and still finish off a much faster pace than he gets to chase closely going a little further in distance. I do think the quality is there for him to be a major factor though. He has to be considered as the best Sprint candidate on the East coast at least.
It appears like the 3yo sprinters have sort of faded out after a long year…Trinniberg clearly isn’t going the right way to make you believe he can upset Amazombie and the Californians on their home court.
In my opinion, the depth in the Sprint division is in California, and when you factor in their home court advantage this year I think it will be very very tough to beat them in that particular Breeders’ Cup race.
