March 20: Another filly steals the show

by Joel Cunningham 4 years ago

Last year proved to be the year of the ladies, as Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta crossed gender lines to dominate some of the biggest races in the country. It’s a little premature to expect anything remotely close could occur again this year, but the top performance of the March 20-21 weekend was turned in by a filly – and not a colt or gelding. Devil May Care, a Triple Crown-nominated filly, turned in an eye-catching closing burst to win the Bonnie Miss S. (G2) in a faster time than the Florida Derby four races later at Gulfstream. Could we see another filly on the Triple Crown trail?

Really like the way you guys are going the extra mile to give us some good insight and reviews of more than just the traditional Kentucky Derby preps. Hope to see more features on all the different divisions beside the 3yo colts.
