Here to Win (BRZ), a Group 1 winner in South Africa, notched her first U.S victory on Saturday at Gulfstream Park, proving best in The Very One Stakes (G3).Ridden by Joe Bravo, Here to Win slipped through an opening on the rail and proved best over a game Keertana in the 1 3/8-mile turf marathon. Owned by Trick or Treat International, the 6-year-old mare is a daughter of Roi Normand.

“I was really confident going into this race with this filly,” said Bravo. “I rode her twice before. It’s a shame the filly doesn’t handle the soft turf because she would have won the first time I rode her. She was the best horse. Today, I was very confident after being able to sit on her a couple times. I knew there were some really good horses in the race but I knew she would be giving that kick.”

Winning trainer Kiaran McLaughlin indicated his charge could resurface in the Orchid Stakes at Gulfstream on March 31.
