The TCI Boys recap the final major weekend of Breeders’ Cup preps and tell you which contenders they think are moving in the right direction as top contenders next month. They also break down the 2-year-olds and who will be the future stars to watch in the Juvenile and Juvenile Fillies.

    Joel – I didn’t foresee any BC Contenders coming out of this weeks final weeks of BC preps. Maybe I was wrong. I was very impressed by Next Questions win in the Nearctic with Ramon Dominguez aboard. If he decided to run in the BC Turf Sprint I will be adding him. He has good speed out of the gate and was coming off of a 5 length victory in a turf race at 7 furlongs at Belmont. The half mile was in 45 seconds, very respectable fractions. This horse probably will be at least 10-1, a live longshot, speed in the sprint races is always a plus. My top 4 in the BC Sprint are #1 Unbridled’s Note #2 California Flag #3 Next Question #4 Bridgetown.Can’t wait for 10-24 when the BC entry list will be announced.

      Hey Joe, I missed you post somehow! My apologies.
      I watched the Nearctic with the same thought – that it was probably the one race, if any, that could produce a serious BC contender because it’s a G1 at a similar as that 6 1/2 furlong turf sprint. I thought the winner was solid, but probably not great…I would wonder how much I would like him coming back in just 3 wks and shipping out West to face Bridgetown et al…I have always liked Bridgetown and think he’ll be tough to beat if he draws well and can finish going 6 1/2F.
      We’re getting closer!
